Memphis Brooks Museum
Lot of good paintings here mostly American, early modern. Not much in the contemporary vein.
This is a Monticelli painting a painter Van Gogh liked. It is interesting here as a few Blakelocks they also have make a link then to Ryder and then to Pollock.
Blakelock.
There was another good Inness painting in Oklahoma City.
Very Contemporary light in this Homer-- to Porter and Katz.
Kuhn is always startling.
A Dove.
Also interesting in relation to a O'Keeffe at Oklahoma Museum.
Henri painting which is like a Manet or Hals.
A great Vuillard. Great flatness and awareness of surface and design.
Great Egyptian head.
Arkansas Art Center
Nothing shocking here but the Seurat's are special-- they list 130 drawings, about 10 on display in a dark gallery.
Nice Lichtenstein drawing.
Bischoff.
I knew this Rivers drawing in the seventies. It's deKooning in River's cowboy hat!
These Seurat drawings the first later are after Van Gogh it seems, this one made in 1895.
The grayer value drawing below from 10 years before.
It is not a coincidence the Viola Frey ceramic has a similarity as art History has supported this Van Gogh line through Matisse and Picasso.

Oklahoma City Museum of Art
Dale Chihuly has something going on at these smaller Museums across the US.
A great Bellows,
This Derain from 1907!
Thomas Moran in Black and White.
Best Marin I've seen I think although not what he's known for.
A Hofmann.
Label says how he is known for his cool images-- I'd say this is one of the warmest, called Jane.
More Chihuly-- which I thought interesting with this Francis.
Anne Truit and Kelley.
George Nelson designer.
