Museo Nacional de Antropología, Mexico City

Pottery.

I am already very interested in the Anasazi Pottery in New Mexico.

I was surprised to find that the particular designs I like are limited to New Mexico, though similar influences become spread out though generalized.

For example, the Mimbres seems only to be produced by Mimbres in Southern NM.

Even though the drawing seems to relate, as below.  Picasso being Spanish and then the Surrealists liking the 'primitive'--and into an elemental Guston.

Something to figure out here in this complex design.

A fetus coming from the mystery of the Universe-- much better than the Catholic propaganda we saw spread around Mexico City Cathedrals.

Another Guston like drawing. In Mexico the context was Siqueiros and Rivera and then thinking of Pollock and Guston in Los Angeles growing up?

Similar to NM Anasazi but still quite different. Especially in lack of rigorous Positive and Negative.
