Houston Art Museums

Love this. At the Fine Arts Museum.

One of my all time favorites. Goya.

The Museums are very good but it seems because of the low level of public understanding they are run like tourist mills.

No Photos-- are enforced like a federal offense.

Makes it very unpleasant.

So I have a uneven group of Photos.

So disapointing.

Also the Menil Museum is the worst in this no Photo policy.

The Rothko Chapel has been one of my pilgrimage sites for most of my life. One of the favorite things in my experience.  I have seen it turned into a facility for events-- almost always has chairs now. Rothko's paintings a background for all this new activity.

This is the amazing quality of what they have-- but it was all put away for a Magritte exhibit.

Whose art actually the de Menils liked but now seems part of the tourist draw.

Last time I was there Newman's, Now, and Ulysses, and Rothko's alternates to Chapel paintings and Marden's Grove Group where all on display.

That's a wow, but they are not popular to the general public.

Also an amazing Johns usually shown with the Rauchenberg above.
