St Louis Art Museum, St Louis MO

New wing is being built. So everything is rearranged, this Beckman room worthy of it's own special exhibition--

These Bathers along with the Mt St Victoire at the Nelson, see last post!

This Matisse we just saw in NY, back home.

Relating now to Beckman or vice versa.

But then now to Hartley.

And this Hartley-- his favorite painting of mine.

Some how out of context, showing St Louis--ians how to be German Macho--

And Im so tired of these Richters, these must be worth a Billion by now--

So Long St Louis and--

They had a blockbuster type show-- which actually was worth it! All three panels from Cleveland and Kansas City, together with St Louis panel. With an amazing Monet movie of him painiting.

All with the security worthy of some terrorist maneuvor? Which accounts for the low quality of these illicit photos.

In a Hurry--

too much to post, later.

Happy Holidays!  Trying to get home to NYC.

Nelson Atkins Museum, Kansas City

By itself seems better than it's sisters in NY at the retrospective.

Liking seeing this Pollock in the real Benton-- ville.

Another great Kline.

Definately in the running.

And they are onto Porter though took down the Katz and Freilicher they had up.

Hamada I like.

Stanley Whitney's painting is stunning.

And Elizabeth and Susan.

I'm recently interested in the look that Balthus seems to have taken into himself.

Van Gogh loved these drawings and tied to make them his own.

A great Tiepelo.

And Veronese.

And recently learned of these Persian heads.

Which I like with these Egyptian things which they keep in low light.

Another Hamada

Benton's best.

Just a nice surprise, I love them. I think Asian Art like this just keeps influencing everything very heavily. What's more Modern?

Crystal Bridges, Bentonville, Arkansas

Oh -- there is a stainless steel tree in St Louis also--

At first thought the Museum looked like a beetle or something strange but he won me over as it is very wonderful at places...

Oh so this is where the NY Public Librarie's Painting went--

And many more all wonerfully abstract.

This is just a great Paintining.!

A Stuart Davis looking like a Jasper Johns Number Painting.

Great Hartley's.

And even more surprising this great portrait by  Jacques Lipschitz.
